On the 1st of November 2020, the congregation at Bothwell Evangelical Church were delighted to welcome Richard Gamble to the church as their new Pastor. Richard is married to Carrie and they have four young children: Jack, Sophie, Andrew & Joshua. They come to Bothwell from Greenview Church in Glasgow where they were members while Richard was training for ministry. They are both delighted to be able to serve in this new chapter in the life of the church and are excited to see what God will do in and through his people here in Bothwell.

You can read more from Richard about this new appointment here. In addition to this, he made the following comment about starting at Bothwell.

‘It is a great pleasure to start as the Pastor of Bothwell Evangelical Church. There is a real need for churches in Scotland who are committed to proclaiming the gospel and making disciples of Jesus. We appreciate the welcome that we have received from the congregation at Bothwell and are thankful for their support. I am greatly encouraged by the appetite that there is in the congregation to build the church on the ministry of the Word of God. I am also very impressed at the links that the church has with the local community. These are excellent points of contact and we will look to build on them in the months and years to come’.

The congregation at Bothwell are also pleased to have a wide network of churches that are supportive of this new appointment. The following individuals have expressed their support for this new ministry.

FIEC are delighted to hear of Richard’s appointment as Bothwell EC’s new pastor. Richard is a valued member of our Pastors’ Network and has shown through his preaching ministry and servant-hearted gospel work a real heart for God’s people. Having personally gotten to know Richard, Carrie and the family, through their membership in Greenview EC, I know what a blessing they’ll be to BEC. Our prayer is that this new phase of ministry for both Richard and BEC will be a fruitful and joyful one as together they seek to make Jesus known in South Lanarkshire and beyond.

On behalf of both Cornhill Scotland, and  The Tron Church where Richard spent part of his Cornhill training as a Ministry Apprentice with us, I am delighted and encouraged to hear of this new ministry beginning at Bothwell. I know that Richard, Carrie and the family will bring joy to the fellowship, and Our prayer is that you will all grow under his ministry of God’s word. May the Lord bless your life of serving him together and grow his kingdom through you in Bothwell and beyond.

William J.U. Philip

Senior Minister, The Tron Church & Chairman of Cornhill Scotland

I was so delighted to hear that Richard Gamble has been appointed to serve in a pastoral capacity at Bothwell Evangelical Church. I had the privilege to teach Richard while he studied at Edinburgh Theological Seminary. He excelled in both Systematic and Practical Theology – this is a powerful combination for any preacher and pastor. Richard clearly has a love for the doctrines of the Christian faith coupled with a love for the people of God and a desire to see these great truths, proclaimed, embraced, lived and shared. May God bless your church and the local community.
