Services

The main services are held each Sunday.

Family Service @ 11.20am

This service is for the whole family, with the Sunday School and Crèche leaving for separate activities part way through the service. We have lively praise times led by our talented Worship Group. God’s word is brought to us by visiting speakers and some from our own church fellowship. The first Sunday morning service of each month includes communion. Why not join us before the service at 11am for tea and coffee?

Evening Worship and Communion Service @ 6pm

Our evening service consists of worship, Bible teaching and Communion (except the first Sunday of each month). Communion is a very important part of the service for Christians as we remember the death, and subsequent resurrection of our Lord Jesus Christ. We take bread which reminds us of Jesus’ body broken for us, and a cup of wine which represents His blood shed for us, paying the price for our sins. By sharing in communion we obey the command of Jesus himself when he said, “Do this in remembrance of me” (Luke 22:19; see also 1 Corinthians 11: 17-34). As Christians we recognize that this is only temporary until Christ returns and takes all Christians to be with him in heaven.

Church Activities

There are many activities for all ages in BEC. Please see our Events and Youth Work sections to find out more about them.

Prayer

The Bible teaches that prayer is important. When we look at the life of Jesus when He walked on earth we see Him spending significant time talking to His Father in heaven. There are numerous examples of the power and results of prayer throughout the Bible.

Prayer plays a vital role in our church life and without it nothing eternally significant is likely to be achieved. A strong personal prayer life is encouraged for each Christian, but as a church there are two further opportunities outwith our main services to meet together to pray:

Sunday mornings 10am

Tuesday mornings 10am

During these times we pray for matters affecting the church, members within the church, the local community of Bothwell and the wider national and international scene.

Prayer times are encouraged at Home Bible Studies and when the Worship Group meet when people can share their needs with each other for prayer.
